ROCKWELL, NC : The Southeast Legends Tour presented by RPM Pro-Formance is excited to announce the 2020 format for the “Rookie Challenge” for the 2020 season. After a full season of competition in 2019, the Rookie Challenge came down to the final race at Hickory Motor Speedway last October, where Zach Helms came out on top of the season-long battle.
The points for the Rookie Challenge will use the same structure of points currently being used in the 2020 SELT season. However, how these points are accumulated throughout the year will be different and with only two events completed so far, the championship is still wide open for new entries.
The Rookie Challenge will utilize a driver’s 8 best race results out of the scheduled 12 events in the 2020 SELT season. Unlike this weekend’s double points race at Kingsport Speedway, all races will be normal point scoring and not include the additional double points to the total. Every driver in the Rookie Challenge, just like with the normal Legends and Bandoleros, the “Show Up Points of 3 per event” will also be included in the Rookie Challenge total. If a driver makes 10 of the 12 events they will add an additional 33 bonus points to their season-long total.
The Hard Charger, Pole Award and Invert Points bonuses are also included in the Rookie Challenge, so every position matters in each race.
Stay tuned to the Southeast Legends Tour for more information on the season-long Championship and Rookie Challenge awards for the end of the season.
